All of the 6th graders this year had to do a presentation/report on a career that you would like to pursue when you grow up. Knowing me, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE kids and especially babies. As you also know I watch Jon and Kate plus 8 non-stop (or at least use to!) and always loved when Kate talked about her little babies in the NICU. I didn't like that they were in there but that the fact is that (according to Kate) that being a NICU nurse can change lives. I would love to be able to care for people but also work with kids. As I studied this job, I felt like I could burst into a billion tears! Seeing these little infants struggle to keep alive and watching their parents also struggle would be difficult. But I would love to be able to help struggling infants become healthy and be able to go home with their families and start a happy life I think that we all agree that we could do that (make ill babies better). I am not quite for sure if this job will be my "actual" job when I grow up but I sure learned a lot. I didn't see how much pain (mentally) that the nurses go through. It would be a very difficult job, but most of the time time it would pay off with sending babies being sent home. I think I would like it better if I worked at the Cedar hospital because if the babies are really ill they send them down to Primary Children's, so practically only premature babies stay there, who just need to be watched for a couple of days! I had a really fun time doing this project and I got a lot of help from my mom (she use to work in the NICU. She personally didn't like working there, because it was hard for her to watch these fragile babies suffering). Thanks Natalie Ludlow for letting me use your paper cutter, it helped out a lot!
Career Day~ After lunch we went to our core class and got all set up. My teacher let us sit by who ever we wanted to. I sat by Braysen (of course!), Danielle, and Morgan. I got challenged by Cord to hold a baby doll the WHOLE time during the fair. I knew I could accomplish this EASY challenge, so I brought a baby doll to school and carried it everywhere! It was actually quite embarassing and I had like four people ask me where the dad was (yes...I know...6th graders aren't the greatest at times!). We got to look at other peoples reports and then we had to stay in our room to be judged. My BFF Toni was a Surgeon, Job was a Orthodontist, and Cord was a Professional Baseball Player. We had eighth graders judge us this year and this really cute eighth grader was asking me questions about my report and I almost passed out! Ahh!!! :) The next day during morning announcements they announced the winners and I won 1st place! I was really excited and proud! So if any you guys need a answer about NICU nurses or the NICU come to me! :)
Toni came to my house after school and she took pictures of me. It's like a story, so here is our conversation with pictures (of only me)
